In 2001 by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan is awarded special status.
In 2004 KazNTU is signed «Magna Charta Unversitatum" and entered to the European Higher Education zone.
In 2004 is introduced the 3rd level system of high and postgraduate education: Bachelor’s –Master’s - PhD degree with an application of credit technology of training.
In 2005- the university was a part of American Educational Consortium.
In 2007- the university is concerned the first place in the rating of scientific activities of High Schools of the country and in the rating of budget financing for 2001 - 2006 defined by the National Center of Scientific Technical Information of RK.  
In 2008- KazNTU is confirmed the double certificate of Quality Management System for the correspondence to the International Standard ISO 9001:2000 for № RU-08.492.026 from 11.08.2008 from the Certification Association “Russian Register” and the International certification network “IQNet”. 
In 2009- the University is become the leader in technical sciences and technology on 22 training programs, taking up 14 - first, 5 - second and 3 - third positions, by the results of rating of bachelor’s degree educational program carried out by the National Accreditation Center.
In 2010- Kazakh National Technical University named after K.I.Satpayev is issued the certification about the institutional accreditation № 000001 from 03.02.2010 on the grounds of decision of Accreditation Council of the National Accreditation Center of the Ministry of Education and Science of RK. 
   KasNTU is a unique High school in the post-soviet territory, included in the Project of Partnership of Universities, sponsoring by Chevron Company. In this present project is takes part the Cambridge, Stanford Universities and Massachusetts Technology Institute.
