      Today the Information Technology Institute is the major educational and research center, carried out the training of engineering personnel in more actual specialities in the field of information and   communication technologies and computer sciences. There are 121 peoples of faculty structure has beeen working in the department, including 11 doctors of sciences and professors, 38 candidates of sciences and associated professors. The Information Technology Institute is managed by Doctor of technical sciences, professor Muhit Shabdanovich Baybatshaev. 
There are 4 sub departments in the structure of Institute:
- Department of Sofware Systems and Network – Head of department – Doctor of technical sciences, associated professor Raisa Kabievna Uskenbaeva.
- Computer science – Candidate of technical sciences, professor Anatoly Semenovich Yermakov.
- Technical cybernetics –Head of department - Doctor of technical science, professor Dulat Nurmashevich Shukayev.
- Electrical engineering Department - Head of department - Doctor of technical science, professor Hariman Kozhaspayevich Kozhaspaev.
At present time in the institute are training 2100 students, 121 postgraduate students and masters. 
  In the institute are functioned 25 computer classes with overall number of 300 computers, the laboratory equipment and stands, which are meeting an up-to-date demand on implementation of laboratory works.

The computer classes are unites in local network with an access of the Internet. The scientists of the institute are actively leads researches in the field of information and communication technologies. Within 2005 – 2007, by the institute has performed researches in sum – 58 995 000 tenge. 
        In 2007 is opened the local academy Cisco. After finishing the study in addition to diploma of KazNTU it is permitted to get the certificate of Cisco. The research works with the students is a priority direction in work of institute’s sub departments. 
  Today the scientific personnel potential and material and technical base is raised and solved urgent questions in the field of information and communication technologies. The students are actively gets involved in the research works.
  On results of scientific investigation many students are makes the reports in an annual students scientific and technical conferences. The best students are assigns by the program “Bolashak” to the leading training centers of USA, Great Britain, Germany and Canada. Annually 8-10 students are awards the President’s scholarship. 
  Annually the students of the Institute are takes part in world and republican championship in programming in a different subject contests. 
       In 2006 the team of the institute has won the third place in the republican championship and received the diploma of third degree in a World championship in programming of Assembler in Sanct Petersburg city, in 2007 has won the Kazakhstan championship title, in 2007 in a World championship has awarded the diploma of third degree again. 
  In 2008 the team of the institute is become the conqueror of Republican students contest on informatics INFORM 2008. In the frame of reforming of the system of High Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the training of specialist is carries out in following level: a bachelor’s, a master’s, a doctoral degree (PhD), in according to the world standard. 
  The institute is supports the reception and training of a bachelor’s, master’s in the field of information technologies in following specialities:
- 050602- Informatics;
- 050703 – Information systems;
- 050704 – Computer science and software;
Each of this direction has the specialization for more purposeful training of personnel with the glance of actual demands of enterprisers and organizations.
The tutors of the department is leads the major works in application and adoption of new methods of hardware and computing in organization and carrying out of educational process. 
With the help of up-to-date computers are performs a yearly essays, a yearly projects, the semester works, undergoes the trial tests of senior students and studies the some compound electromagnetic processes with the using of modeling. The widespread aplication of IT technologies in all sectors of country is required the new approaches and methods of training of highly skilled specialists, which in full measure used in the course of educational process. 
  For the purpose are widely adopted the up-to-date software products, control system of database, operating systems, the Internet and other technologies, systems and facilities, based in a latest achievements of world science and technology. The great attention is gives the goals of upgrading the quality and volume of research work in the field of IT technologies. For the scientific researches are actively gets involved the postgraduate students, masters and students who are gets the theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the field of working out, adoption and operation of IT- system. 
  Also the students – sportsmen is a members of different combined teams of republic, participating in the championship of the Republic, Asian, world and the Olympic Games. Among them are quite a few champions and prize winners. 
The Institute is dynamically developed in accordance with up-to-date requests and carries out the qualitative training of highly skilled specialists and high effectiveness of researches.
